Blackpool Junior Dance Festival
The Blackpool Junior Dance Festival has been running in Blackpool since 1947 with young dancers from all over the world visiting Blackpool to compete. The Blackpool Junior Dance Festival was originally held at Blackpool Tower Ballroom but moved to The Empress Ballroom in 2010. The Empress Ballroom is situated in the famous Blackpool Winter Gardens and has been its home every year since.
In accordance with tradition The Festival always begins on Easter Monday and lasts for seven days. There are two age groups of children – Juveniles (6 to under 12 years) and Juniors (12 to under 16 years).
There are three styles of dancing – Latin American, Ballroom and Sequence. Over the seven days there are 29 competitions, four team matches and three formation competitions. In 2015 there were 33 countries represented at The Blackpool Junior Dance Festival with over 400 couples, 8 Sequence Formation Teams and 74 Latin American = Ballroom Formation Teams competing.
The Strathdon Guest House is situated less than a mile away from The Winter Gardens, which is ideal if you prefer to stay just outside the hustle and bustle of Blackpool town centre
