A host of top music and comedy stars are lined up for Blackpool’s new look Illuminations Switch-On Weekend
Friday 4th September 2015
Known as the biggest night in the resort’s calendar, the event takes place on Friday September 4 and will feature a host of top music stars as well as the big moment when the resort’s stunning light display is turned on for the first time for 2015.
Hollywood film director Tim Burton will switch on the world famous Blackpool Illuminations.
The night will begin with a must see concert with performances from The Vamps, Lawson, Professor Green, Toploader, Little Boots, Only the Young and Becky Hill.

Legendary Fun House presenter Pat Sharp is set to bring “a whole lot of fun” to Blackpool iFest’s Saturday night show which is being held in association with Vintage TV.
The TV and radio star will welcome top vintage pop names to the stage including Bananarama, Jason Donovan, Paul Young, Limahl, Owen Paul and T-Pau, for a night that is sure to have a fun, party feel.

Al Murray – The Pub Landlord – brings comedy to Blackpool’s newest piece of public art – the Comedy Carpet – for the first time ever.
The event will feature an hour-long set from Murray as well as performances from a number of other leading stand-up stars, including Chris Ramsey, Alun Cochrane, Tiff Stevenson, Carl Hutchinson and Craig Campbell.
The 2200 metre squared Comedy Carpet, which features iconic jokes and catchphrases from the most famous names in the comedy world, will make up a large part of the arena floor at the Blackpool Tower Festival Headland.
Blackpool Junior Dance Festival
The Blackpool Junior Dance Festival has been running in Blackpool since 1947 with young dancers from all over the world visiting Blackpool to compete. The Blackpool Junior Dance Festival was originally held at Blackpool Tower Ballroom but moved to The Empress Ballroom in 2010. The Empress Ballroom is situated in the famous Blackpool Winter Gardens and has been its home every year since.
In accordance with tradition The Festival always begins on Easter Monday and lasts for seven days. There are two age groups of children – Juveniles (6 to under 12 years) and Juniors (12 to under 16 years).
There are three styles of dancing – Latin American, Ballroom and Sequence. Over the seven days there are 29 competitions, four team matches and three formation competitions. In 2015 there were 33 countries represented at The Blackpool Junior Dance Festival with over 400 couples, 8 Sequence Formation Teams and 74 Latin American = Ballroom Formation Teams competing.
