BLACKPOOL’S world famous Illuminations are to shine for an extra week this year in a bid to boost tourism, The Gazette and ITV’s Granada News revealed tonight. Entertainment giant Merlin will fund the additional week which will see the lights shine for 10 weeks until Sunday November 10.
The Illuminations will be switched on during an evening of entertainment on Friday 30th August. It will be announced at a later date who will flick the famous switch.
