Blackpool Junior Dance Festival
The Blackpool Junior Dance Festival has been running in Blackpool since 1947 with young dancers from all over the world visiting Blackpool to compete. The Blackpool Junior Dance Festival was originally held at Blackpool Tower Ballroom but moved to The Empress Ballroom in 2010. The Empress Ballroom is situated in the famous Blackpool Winter Gardens and has been its home every year since.
In accordance with tradition The Festival always begins on Easter Monday and lasts for seven days. There are two age groups of children – Juveniles (6 to under 12 years) and Juniors (12 to under 16 years).
There are three styles of dancing – Latin American, Ballroom and Sequence. Over the seven days there are 29 competitions, four team matches and three formation competitions. In 2015 a total of 33 countries represented at The Blackpool Junior Dance Festival with over 400 couples including 8 Sequence Formation Teams and 74 Latin American and Ballroom Formation Teams competing.

May May Blackpool Dance Festival
The May Blackpool Dance Festival began in 1920 in The Empress Ballroom at The Winter Gardens in Blackpool.
The Dance Festival attracts amateur and professional competitors from all over the world.
Covering a period of nine days this is the largest dance festival in Blackpool.
There are five dance festivals held in Blackpool every year.
The May Dance Festival show cases Ballroom and Latin American dancing.
The competition includes the British Open Championships for both Amateur and Professional couples.

UB40 Grandslam Tour
The UB40 Grandslam Tour finishes its run in the Northwest at Blackpool FC’s stadium, for one night only on 16th June 2017
The UB40 concert takes place at Blackpool FC stadium, Bloomfield Road, Blackpool.
UB40 feature Ali, Astro and Mickey, who are the original members of this iconic band from the 1980’s. This concert is part of the bands’ Grand Slam Tour.
UB40 will be joined on stage by 80’s band Level 42, also Raging Fyah and The Original Wailers.
In the 1980’s UB40 songs included ‘Red Red Wine’, ‘Kingston Town’, ‘The Way You Do The Things You Do’ plus many more.
This is the third concert staged at Bloomfield Road. The previous two concerts were total sell outs.
The Strathdon is ideally situated for the concert, only 2 minutes walk away.

Sister Act – The Musical
An all new theatre production of the hit West End show, Sister Act is heading to Blackpool during August 2017.
Starring Alexandra Burke, Sister Act is the feel good musical comedy based on the smash hit movie starring Whoopi Goldberg.
Featuring the original music, dance routines from the film.
The show tells the hilarious story of Deloris Van Cartier, a disco diva whose life takes a surprising turn when she witnesses a murder.
Under protective custody she is hidden in the one place she won’t be found – a convent!
Disguised as a nun she helps her fellow sisters find their voices.
